Features

All In One Machine

The Roland Active Piezo Sensor (RAPS) transforms the machine into a 3Dscanner for scanning 3D objects and creating 3D data. The milling spindle unitturns the machine into a full-featured CNC (computer numerical control) millcapable of cutting jeweler's wax, resins, chemical wood, acrylic, and even lightmetals such as brass and aluminum.

Subtractive RP

Subtractive Rapid Prototyping (SRP) - starting with a solid object andremoving unwanted material - has several advantages over traditional rapidprototyping. Significantly less expensive than rapid prototyping machines withthe same resolution, SRP machines mill a wider range of materials that cost lessand have no need for chemicals or post finishing work. Plus, they produce asuperior finish.

R.A.P.S.

Roland Active Piezo Sensor (RAPS) technology eliminates the drawbacks ofconventional contact-type 3D scanners. It scans data with hair-splittingprecision, picking up even the most minute shape variations. Minimum scanningpitches for the MDX-15/20: X/Y-axis direction 0.002 to 0.197 inches settable insteps of 0.002 inches, Z-axis direction 0.001 inches

Scans Almost Anything

The MDX-15/20 scans a wide range of objects including soft objects like clayand fruit that conventional contact scanners find very difficult. It can evenscan glass, impossible using optical scanners because the light beams passesthrough the object without detecting it.

Software

The MDX-15/20 comes standard with powerful CNC milling and scanningapplication software compatible with Windows® 95/98/ME, Windows NT® 4.0 andWindows® 2000, making it easy to use right out of the box. The MDX-20/15 isalso compatible with a variety of popular 3D CAD and computer graphics softwareprograms, including SolidWorks, Rhinoceros, VectorWorks, LightWave, VisualMilland 3D Studio Max.

Easy As Pie

With an RS-232C cable, the MDX-15/20 plugs into a computer as easily as anydesktop printer. Within minutes, even beginners can be scanning and milling.
